TMX - Translation Memory eXchangeとは

TMX (Translation Memory eXchange)は、コンピュータ翻訳支援(CAT)やローカライゼーションツールのために作成された翻訳メモリデータを交換する、ベンダーに依存しない、オープンなXML標準です。 TMXの目的は、翻訳ベンダーの間で、翻訳メモリデータを確実に変換することにあります。1998年以来、TMXは確実に使用できる標準フォーマットです。LISA内の特別なグループであるOSCAR (Open Standards for Container/Content Allowing Re-use)により開発・メンテナンスされています。

なぜ、TMXなのか

TMXは、翻訳メモリ(TM)データを再利用するための、標準的XMLフォーマットです。According to research conducted by OSCAR, Translation Memory assets increasingly represent a strategic corporate asset, worth, in some cases, millions of dollars, and supporting hundreds of millions of dollars of international business. TMX provides a way to protect these assets against market and technology changes since TMX keeps users from being locked into a particular CAT tool.

Although TMX is an open standard and is free to implement, only products and software that have been certified as conforming to the TMX specification by LISA's third-party testing lab, are licensed to carry the TMX logo.

Implementing TMX

- TMX Implementation Group

The mission of the TMX Implementation Group is to undertake activities that result in the widespread acceptance of the TMX standard including:

• Continued refinement of the standard to include areas such as segmentation,
• Facilitating developer cooperation on the implementation of the standard in ways that maximize the effectiveness of TMX
• Setting up a certification and logo licensing process.
• Promoting the value of TMX in the press and industry at large.
